After more than two decades on television, several longtime NCIS cast members are finally speaking out about the future of the beloved crime drama. In a recent group interview, the stars admitted that while the show has been a career-defining journey, the time may have come to bring it to a respectful close. “It’s time,” one veteran actor confessed. “We’ve told the stories we wanted to tell. Now it feels right to let it go while it’s still loved.”
Some cast members pointed to creative fatigue as a key reason behind their feelings. After over 20 seasons, many of the actors feel they’ve explored every angle of their characters. “There’s only so much growth a character can go through before it starts feeling forced,” one star said. “We want to leave the fans with good memories, not a show that overstays its welcome.”
Others cited personal reasons. With demanding filming schedules and limited time for other projects or family life, the idea of ending the series brings a sense of relief and opportunity. “We’ve all sacrificed a lot,” a cast member shared. “Now we’re thinking about what comes next—both creatively and personally.”
Though CBS hasn’t officially announced an end date, the cast’s openness is fueling speculation that the next season could be its last. Whether or not the network pulls the plug, one thing is clear: the NCIS family is preparing to say goodbye on their own terms.
